Catskill Honey & Tea Tasting with Local Honey Sommelier

This tasting class will sharpen your senses and give you a strong foundation and deeper understanding of honey. We will explore the difference in colors, smells, textures, and tastes of 4 different local Catskill honeys. We will use the honey tasting wheel and color chart to evaluate each type. Since bees are such wonderful pollinators, participants will get to pair their favorite honey with a wild foraged/herbal tea.

Natural Dye Workshop with Maegan Nuebeck

Crocheting 101

Have you always wanted to make your own blankets, scarves, or trinkets? This workshop is the perfect place to learn how to do just that! Our Arts and Crafts Coordinator will guide you through some of the basic steps and stitches of crochet in this hour-long experience. Learn how to pick the correct materials for your project, practice your chain stitch, and gain the foundational skills to begin your fiber arts journey at Hemlock Neversink.

Worry Garden Workshop

Transform your worries into something beautiful during this activity. In the beginning of the workshop, you will jot down your worries onto a canvas. Once this is complete, you emphasize all of the positive words from your statement. The fun really begins after this when you get to release your creativity. Dive in with watercolor paint, markers, and colored pencils to create a beautiful garden over what was once your negative thoughts. This allows you to transform your worries into a vibrant garden.

Stargazing & Cloud Spotting

Bring out the inner child in you with cloud spotting. At night, grab a blanket and telescope to watch the sky above.

Goat Therapy

Location: The Goat Fields
Spend some time with our resident furry friends from Frederick Farm Goat Sanctuary for a leisurely walk through our Goat Fields. Learn more about them, exchange some hugs, and leave with an instant mood boost!

Identity Collage

Location: Activity Building
Get to know yourself better through the art of collaging during this workshop. Take your time flipping through magazines, thinking about your interests, and finding the perfect images to represent yourself before gluing it all together.

Candle Workshop

Take a moment to unwind during your stay with this cozy forty-minute workshop, perfect for the fall season. Begin by preparing your jar with a selection of autumn-inspired flowers, herbs, and leaves that resonate with you. Next, explore our collection of essential oils, including warm and comforting scents that evoke the essence of fall, allowing you to curate a personalized fragrance for your candle. Once the melted soy wax is poured, you'll leave with a lovely seasonal souvenir and a cherished memory of your trip!  

Paint in Nature

Reconnect with your creative side in a new environment by participating in this workshop. With tons of trails on the property to explore, the possibilities for inspiration are endless. You will be guided through the process of setting up your materials and painting in nature by our Arts and Crafts Coordinator, so artists of all experience levels are welcome. The experience lasts ninety minutes, which means there will be plenty of time to create a beautiful piece of art to bring home

Mosaic Workshop

Discover the colorful world of mosaic art in our Mosaic Coaster Making class! Mosaic art is a versatile and rewarding craft, and in this class, you’ll create beautiful and functional coasters to adorn your home. Learn the essential techniques for designing, cutting and arranging mosaic pieces to bring your unique coaster to life. This class is perfect for beginners and those looking to expand their creative horizons.

Paint n’ Pot

Paint n’ Pot is a two-day experience at Hemlock that offers both a creative outlet and an opportunity to enjoy a bit of gardening. For the first session of the activity, you’ll gather in the creative studios to paint a pot. There will be porcelain designs for inspiration, or a chance to create your own design if you prefer. On the second day, flex your green thumb as our Director of Gardens guides you through the potting process. Take the pot that you painted the day before and add some life to it!

Nature Printmaking

Explore some of the trails our property has to offer, and use nature's offerings to create something special. For the first portion of the experience, our Arts and Crafts Coordinator will guide you through some smaller trails where you will gather leaves, sticks, and rocks. Once you return indoors, you'll have a chance to create unique art prints of your discoveries.
